Sholingur

Sholingur, also known as CholaSimhapuram or Thirukadigai, has a rich history, including a battle during the Anglo-Mysore Wars, a famous temple, and a hill with a Hindu pilgrimage center

In 1781, the British East India Company defeated the forces of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan in the Second Anglo-Mysore War. The British won the battle, which took place 80 kilometers west of Chennai. The battle honor "Sholinghur" was awarded to 15 units in 1889

This temple is believed to be one of the 74 seats established by Ramanuja to spread Vishitadvaita. The temple is located in the middle of town and is known for its festivals


This hill near Sholingur is a Hindu pilgrimage center and the site of an ancient temple dedicated to the God Narasimha

Sholingur was known as Thirukadigai in ancient times. The name Kadighachalam comes from the ancient legend that Lord Narasimha gave mukthi to Prahalathan by appearing in Yog

Swami Dhoddachar and Sri Acharya Swami are credited with the development of Sholingu

Sholinghur, a picturesque town in Ranipet district, is most famous for its two hill temples. One for Yoga Narasimhar and one for Anjaneya. In between both these hills housing the Hindu gods is also another 'Tiny temple' that has risen to fame for being a 'Valentine's Temple'.

As per the Legend, Lord Narasimha appeared before Sapta rishi and blessed with Mukti. It is said that the Lord appeared for a span of 24 minutes; hence, whoever offers prayers on this hill for 24 minutes will be relieved from sins.
